Mike Butcherfingers How To hack off Bodyparts with a Horror-Soundtrack

The Herbaliser mixes H. G. Wells’ War Of The Worlds

‘When I was 8 or 9 years old I heard Jeff Wayne’s musical version of H.G.Well’s ‘War Of the Worlds’ for the first time. It scared the pants off me. For years afterwards I listened to the record over and over. It is certainly one of the things from my childhood that cemented my interest in film scores. Though not a film score per se. Its marriage of rock music with orchestral arrangements to tell a story, had me transfixed. The combination of funky rock with sinister string parts would heavily influence and partially shape the sounds that, years later Jake Wherry and I would be making in The Herbaliser.

A few years back I was given, as a Christmas gift, the ‘Collectors Edition box set of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds’. As well as tons of interesting facts about the creation of the original recordings it had several CD’s of alternate takes, remixes etc. On one CD, I excitedly discovered that they had included all of Richard Burton’s dialogue parts, without music. Having already created and performed an alternate live DJ score to silent film ‘The Lost World’ from 1927, this seemed like a great opportunity to do a similar project with one of my favourite childhood stories.

Using records from my own collection of movie soundtracks and other suitable material, I created the original version. This was given to some close friends as a christmas present in 2010. The version you are now hearing is a somewhat revised and extended version, created specifically for the 25 years of Solid Steel. Also, it is the 75th anniversary of Orson Welles’ infamous radio play [edit: am 30. Oktober], that when broadcast on Halloween 1938, had many Americans convinced that they were listening to a genuine attack from outer space. This is by no means intended as an improvement to Mr Wayne’s recording but a tribute to H.G Wells, Jeff Wayne, Richard Burton, Orson Welles and of course Solid Steel.

Dawn of the Dead-Soundtrack on Vinyl from Japan

[This Collection] was curated by a longtime music business professional who started his career in the 70′s as a clerk at a very cool LA based record store chain. The store dealt in lots of import product. By the late 70′s he’d started a company that specialized in importing records from all over the world (not just the UK, as had previously been the standard). The company handled a lot of obscure progrssive, punk and industrial releases from places like Iceland, Poland, Mexico, Greece and others. The gentleman in question set aside a copy of EVERYTHING they brought in. Out of the import company grew a label (one of the most successful independent labels of all time with HUGE acts) which was eventually sold to a major label.

Bad Taste Vinyl-Picture-Disc

Goblin on Red Vinyl

Hm…

Vimeo Direktgoblin

The legendary Italian band Goblin recently reformed and went back into the studio to re-record 4 classic tracks especially for this EP. Treating the originals with the reverence they deserve but updating them to sound more in line with their current live set up. we couldn’t be more thrilled to be exclusively releasing this EP to support their current world tour. What better than revisiting an old friend ? Revisiting that old friend with a new sense of vigor and urgency.

Death Waltz’ favorite Horrormovie-Soundtracks on Vinyl

Vimeo Direktburn, via Boing Boing

New York on colored Vinyl, Jeff Proctors Maniac-Poster).

Death Waltz is the ultimate labour of love. From the moment a young Spencer Hickman took his dad’s video card to rent Zombie Flesh Eaters and made his girlfriend watch it with him while he prepared them both beans on toast, it was clear he was to become an authority on the genre.

Having released a metallic-splatter disc of Elijah Wood’s Maniac remake and collaborted with Dinos Chapman on a reprint of John Carpenter’s classic The Fog in recent months, Death Waltz have established themselves as the pre-eminent horror soundtrack reissue label, fuelling renewed and broader interest in a genre that has long been a specialist haunt.

Rough Trade veteran and organiser of Record Store Day, Spencer Hickman still runs Death Waltz from his apartment by the canal in London’s East End, and it was here that The Vinyl Factory joined him to talk about the label, working with Dinos Chapman and, most importantly, his top ten horror soundtracks.

Jeff Proctors Maniac-Poster

Youtube Direktmaniac

The LP will be available in person at Austin’s Mondo Gallery on March 15; it’ll be for sale through their website on March 22. It’s a 2xLP set with gatefold sleeve on black vinyl– although random copies will be on hot pink vinyl.

The soundtrack features a score by Cliff Martinez, plus tracks by Chromatics, College, Kavinsky and Lovefoxxx, and others.

Poltergeist Soundtrack on Vinyl

Synth Erotica: A Blog about 70s-Porn-Soundtracks

(Soundcloud Direktbone)

Obiges Beispiel stammt aus „The Golden Bone“.

Thanks to the likes of Dallas/Dynasty/Knots Landing/etc being long running TV series there were many an adult feature taking on their tried and tested plots. The classic wacky inheiritance plot where the cast have to undergo a challenge while it brings out the worst in everyone was a classic plot device and The Search For The Golden Bone was made exactly in this manner. The ever suave Sasha Gabor leaves the challenge to those in his will to find the Golden Bone (yes, it’s a gold replica of his cock, as evidenced in the adjacent image) to then grant it’s finder all his riches. Totally awesome.

The action is scored by Lacrimae Rarum who’s work traverses many lurid styles of music but saves his best for the main theme and scene eight. Both tracks are superbly written and makes for some dirty, dirty times that will make your speakers melt with their steamy symphonies.

Scene eight provides some exhilarating expressions of extremely exhausting ecstacy with the entire cast being serviced within an inch of their lives in an orgy of orgasmic opulence. The groans of totally unbridled sexual congress compliment Lacrimae Rarum’s synth work of moistening majesty. Behold the glory of the Golden Bone and it’s lasciviously lovely synth erotica.

Synthe Erotica – The exciting and arousing soundtracks to our most intimate moments. (Danke Paul!)
